Wanted:
Volunteers for the
Folsom St Fair
The Lesbian Health Research
Center is looking for volunteers for the Folsom Street Fair on September
26th, 2004.
What is the
Folsom Street Fair?
The Folsom Street Fair is a street fair in San Francisco that promotes
diversity within the leather/alternative lifestyle, highlighting
entertainment, service and vendors. Proceeds from the production of the
fairs are distributed to organizations which promote a sense of community,
diversity, cooperation, health and human services.
Why is LHRC
Looking for Volunteers?
We are a 2004 beneficiary so we will be receiving grant money from Folsom
Street Events based on the number and quality of volunteers we provide for
the Fair.
Why should I
support LHRC?
LHRC fights to bridge the gap that LBTQ individuals face when interacting
with the health care system. The mission of the Lesbian Health Research
Center is to enhance clinical practice and inform policy about the health
care needs of and delivery of services to lesbians, bisexual women, and
transgendered individuals through a program of research, postgraduate
education and training, and public service.
What does
volunteering involve?
Volunteers sign up for 4-5 hour shift the day of the fair. LHRC is looking
to fill shifts in the following areas: Set-up, security, treasury, gates,
bike riders, floaters, Entertainment, First Aid, and Clean-up.
What does each
of these shifts entail?
